Ingredients:
• 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
• Salt and black pepper, to taste
• 4 slices cheddar cheese
• 4 slices turkey bacon, cooked until crispy
• 2 burger buns, lightly toasted
• 2 tablespoons burger sauce (or your favorite condiment)
• 1 tablespoon butter or oil (for cooking)
Optional Toppings:
• Pickles
• Grilled onions
• Lettuce
• Tomato slices
Directions:
1. Form and Season Patties:
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Form each into a loose ball. Season generously with salt and black pepper.
2. Cook the Turkey Bacon:
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the turkey bacon until crispy. Set aside on a paper towel-lined plate.
3. Smash and Sear the Burgers:
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and add butter or oil. Place two beef balls onto the hot surface. Using a heavy spatula, smash each into a thin patty.
4. Flip and Melt:
Cook for 2–3 minutes until the bottom is crispy and browned. Flip each patty, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top, and cook another 1–2 minutes until melted.
5. Assemble the Burger:
Spread burger sauce on the bottom and top buns. Layer two cheese-covered patties on the bottom bun, add two slices of crispy turkey bacon, and top with any desired toppings.
6. Serve:
Close with the top bun and serve immediately with fries, slaw, or a fresh salad.
